Impose Agriculture Emergency

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf promised in their 100 days agenda:

Launch PTI’s agriculture policy to increase farmer profitability; reduce taxes on diesel; introduce regenerative agriculture and weed management; encourage a change in crop-mix; and optimise subsidy programmes along with other initiatives.

Update 1:

Following an unimpressive performance of the agriculture sector during the tenure of previous government, the new Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration has decided to declare an agriculture emergency under its first 35 initiatives’ programme in a bid to ensure that farmers make more profit.

A senior official of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research told The Express Tribune that the government had formed a task force for the agriculture sector comprising Finance Minister Asad Umar, Adviser on Commerce, Textile and Industry Abdul Razak Dawood and Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
