Upgrade & Implement National Water Policy
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf promised in their 100 days agenda:
Take immediate steps to expedite construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam, by the year 2028. Kick-off the preparation of the master water plan within each province. Kick-off a programme to massively expand water conservation efforts, including in agriculture, through smart interventions to reduce water losses and through improved monitoring.
Below are the actions by Imran Khan and his Governance as a step towards fulfilling this promise:
The government has decided to call the first meeting of the National Water Council led by Prime Minister Imran Khan in the last week of this month to set water sector targets for the country and resolve inter-provincial disputes.
The country’s first-ever National Water Policy approved by the Council of Common Interests (CCI) in April this year required the creation of a National Water Council to address the country’s water issues, including development of reservoirs.
